HistoryFamed battleship on which the Allies received the surrender of the Japanese Empire to end WW II.
The ModelOriginal model from "Floating Drydock" plans, hand made with minimal use of commercial fittings. Hull is pine, coated with fiberglass, decks are 1/8" ply, superstructure balsa with brass guns. Working model with seven year service at special events on pond at Amelia Island Plantation, Florida. Twin Pittman motors power four props handmade by builder. Turrets black powder firing enabled. Scale 1:96. Length 9' 6"
The ArtistMr. Stangel has been building model aircraft since 1940 and ship models since 1980. He is a retired manufacturing engineer.
