History The Riva launches were hand-crafted in Monaco after World War II, and used as runabouts on the French Riviera by wealthy playboys and film stars.
The ModelOriginal ship model design patterned after the famous prototype, hand-crafted on laminate frames, planked with Honduras light mahogany and birch inlay decking. All components and fittings by hand of the artist. Scale 1½ in = 1 ft. Dimensions: Length 48", Beam 15", Height 7½". Available as a 24" half scale model on commission.
The ArtistJohn Green has been building ship models in Halifax for the last twenty-three years, specializing in vessels of the rich Canadian Maritime Provinces tradition. He also does commission work and restoration of antique ship models.
Price$12,800 US as a static ship model with full multi-futtock framing and built-up keel. Add $1200 for two channel Radio Control. Commission for half scale model $7,000 US.
