| History | Royal Navy LST 3002 built in World War II to transport troops and heavy equipment onto a beachhead. Rammed by an American freighter in the Mediterranean, she survived with a new bow. In 1947 she was sold to the Greek Navy and became RHS Aliakman. |
| The Model | Original ship model from Admiralty plans. Aircraft ply on oak frames, fully detailed with some use of commercial fittings, including scale personnel and vehicles. Fully operational with bow doors that open for display purposes. Scale 1:96. LOA 44² Glass display case. |
| The Artist | Military pilot and clinical psychologist Gordon Vandyke has done serious ship modeling since 1975. His eclectic interests include early modern vessels of historic interest, and his ship models are alive with personal detail. He is now living in Maple, Ontario and volunteers at an aviation museum where he engages in restorative work. |
