HistoryThis unique sternwheel river steamer was built in 1904 for the Irrawaddy Flotilla Company for use in Burma.
The ModelOriginal ship model from museum plans, mixed media with basswood hull, pear and apple cabins and decking. Paint and natural finish with subtle weathered effect. Completed in 1999. Name on plate attached to cradle. Scale 3/16² = 1¹0². Length 30 ?².
The ArtistMr. Nagel has been building ship models for over thirty years, specializing in unusual and rarely modeled vessels. His ship models can be found in museums and collections around the world, and may be seen in public buildings in San Francisco, including One California Place. He also creates abstract sculpture working in marble and casting in stainless steel and bronze.
