History Typical British freshwater pleasure craft of the nineteenth century, often called ³Windermere Launches² because several of these classic vessels have been preserved in the museum on Lake Windermere. The Model Elegant original ship model based on builder¹s plans and contemporary sources. Mahogany planking on steam bent ash frames, mahogany deck with inlaid white strips, brass framed windows. Fully operational powered by a twin cylinder steam engine using propane fuel, radio control. Length 47². The Artist Mr. Payne is a retired maintenance supervisor who has been building ship models for 15 years, specializing in detailed live steam ship models. As a craftsman he has mastered the wide variety of woodworking and machining techniques necessary to build these ship models in his well-equipped basement workshop.
