Advances in research and methodology have made it possible to create truly authentic ship models, but the required effort makes them extremely rare. The ship models presented on these pages are often the product of years of research and skilled craftsmanship. Our model-makers use the best materials and methods, confirmed by peer contact and published research. These ship models will last for generations as precious relics and heirlooms.

Most of the works presented here are original ship models (often called "scratchbuilt"), conceived and executed by the artist, and unlikely to be duplicated. Even where commercial designs ("kits") are utilized, extensive modifications have been made as a result of thorough research, and many commercial components have been replaced with handmade fittings. The purchaser of any of these ship models can expect to possess a rare and unique decorative piece and a substantial document of maritime heritage. Persons interested in a purchase are encouraged to seek further information and to view the ship model in person if possible before purchase.

Prices are inclusive of shipping and insurance. All sales shall be by private treaty between modelmaker and client. It is expected that courtesy will be extended to dealers. Many of the artists featured here will accept commissions; inquiry is invited.

Any ship model builder who is a member of the Nautical Research Guild or other ship modeling organization may submit work for listing on this site. Applications will be subject to review by a screening committee. No fee is charged for listing on this site. No commission on sales or other interest will be received by the website. A model may continue to be listed after sale; it shall be designated as sold and contact information will be altered or removed. A ship model once listed will be eligible for relisting at any future time by the modelmaker or subsequent owners.

The Marine Model Artists' Co-operative website is now being co-managed by John F. Green of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada and Alisa Siegel, of Los Angeles, California, the Daughter of former Site Secretary, Dr. Sid Siegel. We dedicate this site to the memory of a great friend and father.
